Simon is a PhD student at Imperial College London, researching into the mathematical modelling of fluid in microfluidic devices.

Simon completed his MMath in Mathematics at the University of Oxford in 2014. During his time as an undergraduate, he became actively involved in maths popularisation and outreach, having volunteered with Oxford University’s outreach group (M3), the UKMT as part of their mentoring scheme and now with the MathsWorldUK project, where he now concentrates his efforts. He is also passionate about maths education in schools and universities, taking every opportunity (PhD permitting) to participate in both.

He believes that getting young people enthusiastic about mathematics is crucially important for the future success of the country, and that a National Mathematics Discovery Centre is an excellent way to proceed.
