Introducing MathsCity Leeds from MathsWorldUK
MathsCity, a major new production from MathsWorldUK, will open to the public in Trinity Leeds (the main shopping centre in the heart of Leeds) in October 2021.
MathsCity is a thrilling hands-on interactive experience devoted entirely to mathematics and its applications. The twenty or so exhibits will appeal to all age groups, young and old alike. Due to health and safety issues and Covid restrictions, tickets will have to be pre-booked online at http://mathscity.co.uk and the number of visitors at any one time will be limited. Visitors may expect to spend about an hour at the exhibition. School and family visits are welcome, with special booking rates applying.
More details of MathsCity can be found under the ‘MathsCity’ tab on the MathsWorldUK Home page, as well as on its own dedicated website
http://mathscity.co.uk
MathsCity has been made possible by generous support from Trinity Leeds, Leeds City Council, and the Leeds BID (Business Improvement District), as well as by individual donations. The installation has been designed by the well-known Yorkshire design studios, WorkHaus.
We have appointed Linda Rosen as Manager of MathsCity. Linda is a graduate in Mathematics from the University of Southampton and has extensive experience in running outreach groups and engaging with local communities, in particular exploring and highlighting their ethnic heritages. We are appointing several enablers to assist visitors at MathsCity. In addition, we will be looking for volunteers to help – out at peak periods.
Further announcements about the opening of MathsCity will appear here in the coming days and weeks. We look forward to welcoming you to MathsCity and we guarantee you a fun and interesting time.
Please support this important endeavour!
